Client: Town of Herndon Location: 777 Lynn Street, Herndon VA 20170 (Onsite Role) Job ID: 763724 On-Site Requirement • Mandatory on-site presence (5 days/week) to start. No exceptions. • Remote flexibility may be permitted at a later stage at the manager’s discretion. • Candidates must be willing and able to attend an in-person follow-up interview (after initial virtual interview); no offer will be made without an in-person meeting. Position Overview • Lead planning, implementation, and change management of Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud solutions aligned with the Town’s IT Strategic Roadmap. • Translate complex technical initiatives into clear visuals and plain language for executive-level communication. • Act as both a strategic planner and hands-on implementer. Key Responsibilities • Develop visual presentations, dashboards, and roadmaps for leadership audiences. • Simplify complex technical information for non-technical stakeholders. • Present to IT Steering Committee and executive teams to align IT goals with Town priorities. • Align cloud initiatives with budget planning, organizational change readiness, and department objectives. • Configure and manage Microsoft Entra ID, AD Connect, and Intune (MDM/MAM). • Zero Trust Security (MFA, Conditional Access, DLP, legacy protocol blocking) • Microsoft Defender for Office 365 • SharePoint Online & Microsoft Teams • Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain Microsoft cloud environments. • Ensure all configurations follow Microsoft best practices and Town IT architecture. • Lead change management activities, including communications, training, and readiness assessments. • Develop user training, FAQs, and department-specific onboarding materials. • Monitor adoption metrics and user feedback; refine rollout strategy accordingly. • Anticipate and mitigate resistance to cloud transitions. • Develop technical roadmaps, milestone plans, and resource forecasts. • Track project risks, delays, and interdependencies; escalate as necessary. • Coordinate efforts between vendors, IT staff, and business units for smooth execution. • Conduct Town-wide training and department-specific Q&A sessions. • Create user guides, knowledge base content, and technical documentation. • Provide Tier 2/3 support during key rollouts and enforcement phases. • Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and technical standards for ongoing operations. Required Qualifications • 8+ years in IT architecture or engineering, with 4+ years in Microsoft 365/cloud/security. • Proven ability to communicate effectively with executive audiences and deliver polished technical documentation. Proficiency In • Microsoft Entra ID & AD Connect • Microsoft Intune (MDM/MAM) • SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive • Zero Trust Architecture (MFA, Conditional Access, DLP) • Microsoft Defender for Office 365 • Strong experience in change management, adoption enablement, and executive communication.
