As a Systems Administrator Senior, you will provide essential support for strategic enterprise operating systems, software, and hardware. Essential Job Functions: • Strategic Enterprise Solutions • You will serve as a key team member in planning our enterprise systems, recommending, designing, building, and implementing solutions across hardware, software, and cloud platforms like Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This involves collaborating closely with customers, vendors, and internal teams, evaluating future needs, recommending innovative technologies, and developing efficient work processes. A significant part of this is mentoring junior staff, documenting processes and staying ahead of industry trends. • Providing Advanced Technical Expertise & Analysis • You will be the go-to senior technical expert, providing high-level (Level 3) support and in-depth analysis for our strategic enterprise systems, including servers, cloud and Hybrid-cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS). This involves complex troubleshooting using diagnostic tools, automating tasks through scripting, managing system administration activities, and assisting with backup and recovery efforts. You'll be vital in analyzing and implementing system modifications and utilizing change control systems to ensure system health, performance and accuracy of our CMDB. • Ensuring a Secure Systems Environment • Security is paramount to protecting County data and services. You will design, implement, and manage secure environments for data, systems, and processes, working closely with the IT Security Team Manager. This includes implementing security policies, utilizing threat detection and log analysis tools (Splunk, Tenable, Crowdstrike, Defender), and maintaining data integrity through robust backup and recovery standards (Netapp Snapmirror/SRM, VEEAM). • Leading and Contributing to Technical Projects • You will manage technical projects, overseeing budgeting, purchasing, and potentially project teams, following established standards. This involves estimating work, guiding testing and development, and actively participating in various application and infrastructure projects, sometimes stepping into a project team lead role. • Developing Clear Technical Documentation • Sharing knowledge is key to our collective success. You will create and maintain essential technical documentation, including wikis, manuals and procedures for complex systems, ensuring information is current and accessible.
