About the Role AVS Technology is seeking a skilled Data Analyst / Programmer II to transform large datasets into meaningful insights through advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and compelling visualizations. The ideal candidate will design KPI-based dashboards, work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and apply statistical and programming expertise to support decision-making. This role supports data-driven initiatives at the VA Financial Services Center by delivering high-impact, actionable reports and analytics solutions. Responsibilities • Develop and design KPI-based dashboards and reports that summarize customer insights • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, correlations, and business drivers • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to optimize data models and structures for reporting • Apply statistical methods and data modeling to support strategic decisions • Translate business requirements into analytical solutions and data visualizations • Use SQL programming to extract, process, and analyze data efficiently • Work independently to design, implement, and document data analytics solutions • Present findings and participate in stakeholder meetings and workshops Education & Experience • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific/technical field – Substitution: Six (6) additional years of relevant experience may replace the educational requirement • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data analysis, programming, or a related field • Proven experience with SQL programming and data visualization tools • Demonstrated success in statistical analysis and real-world data investigations • Experience developing interactive dashboards, KPIs, and executive-level reporting Required Skills • Advanced proficiency in SQL programming and database management • Hands-on experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker • Strong statistical analysis and predictive modeling skills • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable data insights • Experience working with large datasets and optimizing data pipelines • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Data Engineers and Scientists • Strong communication and documentation skills Preferred Skills • Experience in government or federal contracting environments • Familiarity with VA Financial Services Center operations and enterprise data systems • Proficiency in Python or R for statistical computing and data manipulation • Knowledge of cloud-based platforms like AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, or Google BigQuery • Certifications in analytics or BI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Specialist, Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate) Why Join AVS Technology?
