How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region: The Manager, Business Systems within Metro Transit's Service Development Department provides leadership with business technology. This individual will be responsible for leading the coordination of service between department managers, technology users, Information Systems, and other business partners to procure, maintain and improve data, systems, and reports that support the department and agency core functions. This role will work to ensure business continuity and development of department staff. What you would do in this job Team Leadership: Supervises System Support staff, sets goals, monitors performance, provides coaching, and ensures alignment with department and agency objectives. System & Data Management: Oversees administration and upgrades of systems like HASTUS and Remix; coordinates with IS to manage data flows and customizations. Reporting & Content: Leads development and delivery of reports; manages content across platforms such as SharePoint, MetNet, Teams, and archival systems. Technology Strategy: Develops and implements technology roadmaps; evaluates emerging tools and represents the department in agency-wide tech initiatives. Vendor & Project Oversight: Manages procurement, contracts, and vendor performance for key technology services and platforms. Collaboration & Support: Coordinates with internal teams to assess needs, design solutions, and provide administrative and technical support. What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications) Any of the following combinations of completed education (in Business Administration/Management, Information Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science or closely related field) and progressive experience with application and data management, project management, business systems management analysis, or closely related field with at least two (2) years of management, supervisory or leadership experience. High school diploma/GED with nine (9) or more years of experience AND at least two (2) years of experience in management, supervision or leadership. Associate degree with seven (7) or more years of experience AND at least two (2) years of experience in management, supervision or leadership. Bachelor's degree with five (5) or more years of experience AND at least two (2) years of experience in management, supervision or leadership. Master's degree or higher with three (3) or more years of experience AND at least two (2) years of experience in management, supervision or leadership. Metropolitan Council Employees Only: Successful completion of any one of the following four Metropolitan Council Leadership/Supervisory training programs will substitute for lead/supervisory experience. You must attach your certificate(s) as proof of completion of the program to your application. Experience working with data management, data analysis, and business intelligence platforms. Examples may include SQL Server (or other database platforms), Databricks (or other cloud-based data lake platforms), R / R Studio / R Shiny, Python, Power BI (or other business intelligence platforms), etc. Experience working with Metro Transit technology systems such as HASTUS, Ops Datamart, Remix, GIS, TransitMaster, ScheduleDB, or ATIS. Experience working in transportation or transit with knowledge of transit organizations, planning, scheduling, and operations. Experience in public sector management. Experience working with diverse populations and understanding the value different experiences bring to the workplace. Experience utilizing transit or transportation system as a rider including knowledge of routes and schedules. What knowledge, skills and abilities you should have within the first six (6) months on the job: Knowledge of database management, programming logic, information technology management, and business analysis methodologies. Knowledge of technology procurement and vendor/contract management. Knowledge of reporting platforms. Skilled with Microsoft Office365 tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, etc.).
