ROLE SUMMARY Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is seeking a Manager, Information Technology (Network & Systems Administrator) to support and maintain network and server infrastructure across our schools and Home Office. This role will primarily work remotely, providing high-level IT support and guidance to Junior Network Administrators while ensuring overall system stability and security. Travel to school sites will be required for projects and on-site support. Attendance at weekly team meetings and monthly Home Office meetings is also required. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee and maintain network and server infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, access points, servers, network monitoring, and backup systems. • Provide remote and on-site support to resolve escalated IT issues, ensuring minimal downtime. • Support Junior Network Administrators with troubleshooting, maintenance, and network optimization. • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and cloud-based services such as Google Workspace. • Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices, including monitoring for potential threats. • Conduct regular network and system audits to identify performance improvements and security enhancements. • Assist in the planning and execution of IT projects, including system upgrades, deployments, and migrations. • Maintain documentation of network and system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and IT policies. • Support integrations with Alliance’s data & technology systems, including Alliance’s student information system (PowerSchool). • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for IT-related purchases and support. • Travel to school sites as needed for special projects and on-site troubleshooting. • Collaborate with other Home Office IT staff to provide timely resolution of Information Technology tickets. • Provide technical support to users regarding hardware, software, and network-related problems. • Collaborate with the Director, Information Technology to ensure proper maintenance of hardware, software, and other technical equipment (DVRs, PBX/VoIP phones, printers, etc.). THE IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE • Commitment to Alliance’s core beliefs and educational philosophy. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. • Excellent communication skills and a customer-service mindset. • Experience managing enterprise-level IT infrastructure, including Cisco networking equipment. • Knowledge of BGP and EIGRP routing protocols. • Experience with switching protocols, including Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Port-Channel, VLAN, and Voice-VLAN. • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and cloud-based solutions. • Knowledge of Mac systems and Google platforms. • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and tools. • Ability to support and mentor junior IT staff. • Reliable transportation for school site visits. • Knowledge of PowerSchool is a plus. • Strong customer service orientation including timely response to customer needs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • 3-5 years of experience in network and systems administration. • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). • Experience with Cisco networking devices and Microsoft Active Directory. • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Cisco CCNA are preferred. WORK LOCATION This is a hybrid position requiring some travel to school sites for projects and support. Attendance at weekly team meetings and monthly Home Office meetings is required. Candidates must be based in the Greater Los Angeles area and have reliable transportation. The successful candidate will be given a $400 work-from-home set-up allowance and receive a monthly stipend of $100.
