About the position Berkley Technology Services (BTS) is seeking a Staff Network Engineer to lead the transformation of our global infrastructure from traditional routing and switching to a modern, cloud-first, zero trust architecture. This role will be instrumental in designing and implementing secure, scalable, and automated network solutions using SD-WAN, SASE, and infrastructure as code. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in enterprise networking and security, while also possessing the vision and leadership to guide our team through a major technological shift. This role includes architectural design, hands-on implementation, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for infrastructure, networking, load balancing, and security technologies within the network services practice. , • Lead the design and implementation of SD-WAN, SASE, and Zero Trust architectures. , • Provide advanced configuration and troubleshooting for Cisco routing/switching, load balancing, firewalls, and cloud networking components. , • Actively participate in the planning and implementation of systems, infrastructure, and related hardware/software across on-prem and cloud environments. , • Provide project architecture and technical oversight for infrastructure modernization and security transformation initiatives. , • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of network and security solutions. , • Serve as a lead engineer and technical liaison for customer engagements, including presenting designs and deployment strategies. , • Assess and recommend architectural changes to systems in response to business or technical drivers. , • Define and enforce standards, design patterns, and best practices for network and security systems development. , • Contribute technical documentation, proposals, and solution designs. , • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills across application, middleware, and infrastructure layers. , • Provide mentorship and cross-training to team members, helping them transition to modern networking, security, and automation practices. , • Drive adoption of network automation and infrastructure as code using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Python. , • Support cloud networking and security initiatives across Azure, AWS, and GCP. , • Maintain a robust understanding of business processes and system interfaces, ensuring technology solutions align with organizational goals. , • Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including management and vendors. , • On-Call Rotation (PIC) is required. Requirements • Minimum of 8+ years design and engineering experience in midsize to large global network environments. , • Strong hands-on experience with routing/switching, firewalls, VPN, NAC, and WAN optimization. , • Experience with SD-WAN and SASE/Zero Trust platforms. , • Proficiency in NAC, 802.1X, and NGFWs. , • Familiarity with cloud networking and security (AWS, Azure, GCP). , • Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Python). , • Strong documentation and communication skills. , • Experience with Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Netscaler, Zscaler, or similar platforms. , • Networking: Switches, Routers, Servers, Load Balancers, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, VoIP, QoS, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPSec. Nice-to-haves • Any of the following certifications preferred: CCNP/CCIE, PCNSE, CISSP, AWS/Azure Networking Specialty. Benefits undefined
