IT Systems & Operations Specialist Location: Hybrid – Remote with occasional in-office presence (NYC or Stamford, CT) Employment Type: Full-Time Reports to: Managing Partner About the Role We are a mid-size law firm seeking an experienced, proactive IT Systems & Operations Specialist to lead and support our growing technology infrastructure. This is a strategic and hands-on role focused on maintaining secure and reliable systems, spearheading our SOC 2 compliance efforts, managing vendor relationships, and helping the firm implement technology solutions that improve legal research, operations, and collaboration. This role will work closely with firm leadership, our Managed Service Provider (MSP), and third-party vendors to ensure our tech environment remains secure, compliant, and efficient. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with organizational and communication skills—and is excited to play a key role in the modernization of a high-performing law firm. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Compliance Initiatives • Lead and coordinate SOC 2 compliance preparation, working closely with external consultants and internal stakeholders • Research, recommend, and implement new software and systems to support legal research, accounting, litigation support, and internal operations • Serve as primary liaison with our Managed Service Provider (MSP) to ensure timely, effective resolution of escalated IT issues and projects • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and renewals across software, hardware, telecom, and service providers Systems Administration & Operations • Manage account lifecycle and user access (Microsoft 365, legal apps, cloud storage, etc.) • Administer and optimize VOIP phone system (Vonage), including international lines and remote setups • Maintain inventory and asset lifecycle management for laptops, monitors, peripherals, and other IT hardware • Support backup and disaster recovery planning and documentation Support & Internal Services • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced hardware and software issues, including Windows PCs, printers, legal applications (e.g., Epona), and VPN/connectivity • Set up new user workstations, ship laptops/monitors, and coordinate remote onboarding/offboarding • Provide hands-on support in offices located in NYC, Stamford, CT, and Washington, D.C. as needed for workstation setup, hardware replacements, and network support Qualifications • 3–6 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or technical operations • Proven experience managing or contributing to SOC 2 or other compliance frameworks • Comfortable working with Managed Service Providers and coordinating third-party support • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, VOIP systems (e.g., Vonage), and common legal or professional service software • Excellent communication and project management skills; able to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is a strong plus • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred Compensation & Benefits • Competitive salary: $100,000 – $130,000, depending on experience and qualifications • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • 401(k) with employer contribution • Paid time off and firm holidays • Hybrid remote work with flexibility and autonomy
