What You’ll Do We're seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to lead the design, optimization, and performance of our Azure-based Microsoft SQL Server environments. You’ll be the backbone of our data infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations for our insurance platforms, web applications, and enterprise data warehouse. This is more than a technical role – it's an opportunity to shape the future of our data architecture in a highly collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Database Administration & Performance • Administer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases hosted on Azure VMs and Azure SQL Database • Design and maintain SQL clustering, Always On Availability Groups, and robust disaster recovery solutions • Ensure performance tuning, indexing, and schema optimization in collaboration with developers • Support transactional applications that power policy management, billing, and claims Cloud & Azure Data Management • Manage Azure SQL Databases, Azure Managed Instances, and Azure Synapse Analytics • Configure and monitor hybrid SQL environments integrating IaaS and PaaS • Leverage automation tools (PowerShell, ARM templates, Azure Automation) for streamlined deployments and updates • Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights to proactively track performance and availability Monitoring, Backup & Recovery • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery strategies using Azure Backup and Recovery Services Vault • Ensure continuous monitoring of database health, performance metrics, and job execution status • Identify and resolve issues proactively to minimize downtime and ensure data integrity • Plan for capacity, forecast resource needs, and conduct performance tuning based on system trends ETL & Data Engineering • Build and manage reliable ETL pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools • Partner with BI and analytics teams to ensure clean, consistent, and timely data flow to the enterprise data warehouse • Support data marts, analytics models, and business reporting through well-structured data systems • Uphold best practices for data quality, governance, and metadata management Leadership & Collaboration • Collaborate with developers, engineers, and architects on new database solutions and enhancements • Provide mentorship and knowledge-sharing to junior DBAs and technical team members • Maintain detailed technical documentation for configurations, standards, and procedures • Contribute to the evolution of our data infrastructure and support innovation across the business Required What You Bring • 7+ years of experience in SQL Server administration • Deep expertise in Azure SQL solutions and high-availability designs • Strong T-SQL and performance tuning skills • Hands-on experience with SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or similar ETL tools Preferred • Experience in data warehousing and dimensional modeling • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) • Familiarity with Python, Spark, or other modern data tools • Industry certifications and experience in regulated environments (insurance/finance) EEO Compliance Olympus Insurance Company is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
