Position Overview A versatile, hands-on Senior Systems Administrator who owns everything from server builds to network resiliency to security posture. These opportunities include development and integration of a variety of system hardware and software application(s) supporting our engineering and manufacturing teams. The System Administrator will also work within a diverse team of skilled and motivated co-workers to collaborate on results, this position requires a positive attitude, self-motivation, the ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities Key Job Duties • Compute Systems Integration & Maintenance • Plan, install, configure, upgrade, and decommission Windows Server 2016-2022 and Linux (Ubuntu) hosts • Build and manage VMware or Hyper-V virtual servers and supporting SAN/NAS storage • Develop and maintain PowerShell & Bash scripts for automated OS deployment, patching, and configuration • Network Design & Troubleshooting • Design, implement, and document VLANs/subnets for CUI and general-use traffic • Configure and maintain switches, routers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi controllers (Ruckus, Aruba) with HA (HSRP/VRRP) • Monitor performance, proactively identify bottlenecks, and resolve LAN/WAN issues • Security & Compliance • Administer Active Directory, Azure AD (GCC High), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), MFA, and conditional access • Implement and manage an internal PKI to migrate intranet services from HTTP to HTTPS • Conduct vulnerability scans, tune, manage, and set up EDR/SIEM, and maintain NIST 800-171/CMMC artifacts • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery • Develop and test backup strategies with defined RPO/RTO targets • Create and exercise DR runbooks and tabletop scenarios to eliminate single points of failure • Capacity Planning & Procurement • Forecast hardware and software needs for engineering workstations, servers, and network expansions • Evaluate vendors, spec equipment, and manage purchase orders • Tier-3 Escalation & Mentoring • Serve as the technical authority for help-desk escalations (e.g., Outlook quirks, SQL-mail issues, server outages) • Mentor junior staff and ensure consistent incident response, including off-hours support when needed Experience/Skills Requirements • 6+ years' experience administering mixed Windows & Linux environments in regulated/DoD or manufacturing settings • 5+ years with Windows Server (2016-2022) and Windows 10/11 desktop OS • 2+ years Linux server administration (installation, maintenance, troubleshooting) • Hands-on VMware vSphere or Hyper-V virtualization and enterprise backup/SAN management • Proven O365 experience • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and Bash (or Python) for automation • Solid networking fundamentals: VLAN/subnet design, routing/switching, STP, HSRP/VRRP, 802.1X • Experience on classified networks and troubleshooting GPOs & AD domain policies • Expertise in system backup strategies, network switch configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting • Familiarity with NIST 800-171, DFARS, or CMMC control frameworks • Experience with upgrades and patches for operating systems and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software Desired Skills And Experience • Infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.) • Prior small-team leadership or project management experience • Professional certifications: MCSE (Windows/Azure), VMware VCP, AWS Solutions Architect, CCNA/CCNP, CISSP, Security+ • Experience with cloud-adjacent services (AWS, Azure) or hybrid architectures • Hands-on with SIEM platforms (Splunk, Elastic, Sentinel Education Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience Benefits Join our team and be a part of shaping the future of aerospace and defense technology!
