Job Summary The Data Systems Administrator supports the Asset Teams in seismic, well, production, culture, and GIS data management. The teams consist of senior geologists, geophysicists, and petroleum engineers working on fields development or exploration projects across different regions. The Data Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and analyzing subsurface data, advancing data management projects in collaboration with subsurface teams, loading and transferring data between Petrel and Studio database platforms, creating maps and other analyses for internal use, and ensuring data quality control. The role requires strong experience managing Studio database and basic Petrel experience. Additionally, the technologist will be expected to build effective, collaborative relationships with subsurface teams and Murphy digital platforms stakeholders, migrate projects across platforms, and utilize advanced digital workflows and software skills to support the geoscience scope of work. The Data Systems Administrator will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely. Responsibilities Lead and manage Studio database and manage a variety of subsurface data (seismic, well data, G&G interpretation), data loading, naming conventions, data formats, data manipulation, and analysis. Create protocols, standards, and rules for Studio database, in collaboration with the Subsurface Petrel and Studio Lead. Migrate Petrel and other applications data including seismic, well logs, well tops, etc., into Studio. Conduct data clean-up efforts and recognize current/official data versus working data. Utilize Petrel, Studio, and subscription services for data management, data transfer, and analysis. Install, update Petrel, plug-ins, and software used by Murphy staff. Conduct data quality control on various types of data. Build effective, collaborative relationships with subsurface teams and Murphy digital platforms stakeholders. Utilize the Microsoft ecosystem (Office 365, SharePoint, Power Suite, and Azure). Maintain databases under the supervision of the Subsurface Lead/Coordinator and ensure data quality. Search and identify data for the team and resolve data issues with assistance. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's degree in geology, geophysics, geographical information systems (GIS), or management information systems. Minimum 5 years' experience working with Studio data management and data transfers between various data platforms and subsurface applications. Demonstrate strong experience in Subsurface Data Management (seismic, well logs, interpretation, production data) through various applications. Basic experience with Petrel, Studio, Kingdom, Paleoscan, and ArcGIS Pro interfaces and tools including installation, updating, adding plug-ins, etc. Experience in working with technical staff from all levels and fulfilling organizational needs in terms of data availability, management, QC. Experience with QCing seismic and logs data and familiarity with data QC and management protocols and practices. Basic experience of OSDU and DELFI and cloud subsurface platforms. The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs.
