Position Summary Reporting to the Network Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring the reliability of the Credit Union (CU)’s network infrastructure, which includes local and wide-area network services, switches, enterprise routers, servers, network hardware and software, VoIP phone system, Active Directory / Azure Active Directory, Office 365, VMware virtual environment, and desktop systems. Provides ongoing analysis of the network and technology infrastructure for planning and budgeting purposes. Acts as primary department contact for organizational projects related to technology infrastructure. The Network Administrator closely partners with the IT Support Specialist Team to support the ticketing system. Coordinates activities with vendors and third-party business partners to monitor and maintain vendor-supported services. This position will ensure compliance with the CU’s Information Security and Business Continuity programs as these relate to technology infrastructure. The Network Administrator will develop and maintain effective and collaborative business relationships and communication with CU team members and vendors. May be assigned to lead special projects and serve on various project teams to accomplish Strategic Goals. Responsibilities Technical Administration • Supports the CU’s local and wide area network to ensure that all services and processes are working efficiently. • Establishes configuration and performance standards for the network and associated systems. • Coordinates activities with third-party vendors for firewall maintenance, network security, and network monitoring. • Implements network and systems performance metrics and continuously monitors and measures actual performance against established performance standards. • Creates and maintains system and application documentation. • Creates and maintain network diagrams. • Ensures that system patches are applied in conjunction with the Patch Management Policy. • Ensures all modifications and upgrades to systems and networks, including installation or updates to firmware or software, are in alignment with the Change Management Policy. • Engages with Support Specialist Team to troubleshoot and resolve IT issues. • Maintains support services/warranties for all new and existing equipment. • Encourages system standardization throughout the CU. • Provides technology support to other departments, quickly resolving technology problems to minimize disruption to normal operations. • Provides new hire orientation, user training, and creates end-user training presentations and documents. • Informs Network Manager of any outages or disruptions. Communicates actions related to problem resolution. Internal Department Activities • Serves as backup for IT department personnel – maintains basic working knowledge of all department functions to stand-in when required. • Shares knowledge with other IT Team members to ensure adequate support coverage when Network Administrator is unavailable. • Ensures all applicable work procedures are clearly documented, archived, easily accessible, and updated as changes occur. • Makes policy recommendations to Network Manager; implements procedures and approves policies related to the network and technology services. • Seeks opportunities to improve efficiency and workflow related to IT systems and business processes. Project Management and Planning • Provides technology support for strategic project management activities. • Ensures all network components, servers, desktop systems and other technical equipment support efficient operation of all services, departments, and individuals in the organization. • Research industry trends in technology to ensure the CU remains competitive in its product and service offerings. • Performs regular analysis of system usage and capacity to support growth and planned changes. • Conducts research and formulates recommendations for the Network Manager on the selection and implementation of technology solutions that support CU strategies and goals. Compliance • Ensures compliance with Information/Cyber Security policies. • Ensures compliance with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans. • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC. • Notify Network Manager upon recognition of potential violation of policies anywhere within the organization. Performance Expectations • Network and Communications technical functions and System processing are performed effectively and in accordance with established policies and procedures. • Information is adequately shared and clearly communicated to other IT Team members. • Diligent effort is demonstrated to go beyond providing immediate, short-term remedies in favor of providing well-planned, long-term solutions. • Accurate reporting, appropriate tracking and measurement of department activity levels are maintained. • Compliance with all applicable regulatory standards is maintained. • Excellent communication and professional working relationships exist with all CU departments, members, and vendors. Professional demeanor at all times. • Network Manager is appropriately informed of IT activities, computer/technical activities and significant problems. • The CU’s professional reputation is maintained and conveyed. • Demonstrate the CU’s Core Values & Cultural Beliefs. Education & Experience • Five years to eight years of related work experience in network administration experience in a 24/7/365 environment. • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in information technology, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates are not required, but would be considered. • Certification preferred on MCSE, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, etc. • Experience administering a VMWare environment preferred. • Experience managing successful technology-based projects. • Experience managing relationships with telecommunications providers, system vendors, and other third parties. • Willingness to expand knowledge through personal reading, study, and research. • Knowledge of CU internal operations, financial operations, and regulations preferred. • Ability to manage adverse situations and make sound business decisions.
