Overview GovCIO is on the lookout for a talented System Architect specializing in Azure Web Services and Data Platforms to spearhead the development of a secure, public-facing web platform built on Azure. This exciting role includes essential components such as dynamic Power BI reporting, efficient data pipelines, and compliance-driven operations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in architecting scalable, secure solutions in alignment with federal security standards, including ongoing ATO (Authority to Operate) renewals. Responsibilities • Direct the planning, design, and installation of advanced systems by applying expertise in engineering and programming. • Contribute to the conceptual design and document development concepts. • Work closely with cloud providers and internal teams to enhance network efficiency. • Design and oversee a robust Azure web platform covering APIs, front-end/back-end integration, authentication layers, and deployment configurations. • Establish system-level requirement verification procedures along with customer acceptance testing. • Lead the architecture of Power BI reporting infrastructure to optimize data sourcing, modeling, and distribution. • Design and manage data sourcing, ingestion, and transformation processes using Azure Data Factory (ADF), SQL, and other native Azure services. • Implement cloud-based network architectures that align with business objectives. • Maintain detailed network diagrams and collaborate with Network Architects for support procedures. • Monitor network availability and capacity to achieve service quality and availability goals. • Ensure compliance with federal and organizational security standards for ATO, including documentation and vulnerability management. • Oversee ATO renewal activities, working in concert with security, operations, and audit teams to sustain ongoing authorization and manage Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M). • Provide architectural oversight for performance, scalability, disaster recovery, and budget optimization of Azure resources. • Collaborate with development, DevOps, data, and stakeholder teams to align architecture with program objectives and user needs. • Diagnose and resolve network challenges across various cloud environments. • Assist Cloud Engineers and Architects with infrastructure design and architectural challenges. • Maintain thorough architectural documentation, roadmaps, and diagrams to support project planning and governance. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • Over 12 years of relevant experience or equivalent professional expertise. • Proven track record in architecting Azure-based web services and highly scalable cloud platforms. • In-depth knowledge of data architecture, including ETL/ELT frameworks, Power BI, and real-time data workflows. • Experience with virtual or cloud-based servers and applications. • Familiarity with federal ATO frameworks and compliance maintenance. • Proficient in Azure tools such as Azure AD, Key Vault, API Management, ADF, Azure SQL, and Azure Monitor. • Experience in managing Power BI gateways, optimizing DAX, and implementing data governance practices. Preferred Skills • Experience in an Agile work environment. • Exceptional communication and documentation skills to convey architectural solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
