Our Opportunity: OnboarD Software is seeking a Linux & Network Security Engineer (Fedora & Palo Alto) to join our core infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Linux system security and routing, with hands-on experience managing Palo Alto firewalls, securing complex environments, and implementing traffic shaping and firewall policies. This is a hands-on, system-level role with a strong emphasis on Fedora-based Linux systems, iptables, tc (traffic control), and enterprise firewall security. Additional experience with virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V) and basic networking concepts (VLANs, L3 routing) is a plus. Responsibilities: Security & Firewall Operations: • Administer Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls, including: • Security policy configuration, NAT, VPN (IPSec/SSL), and QoS • DSCP tagging, traffic shaping, and threat prevention • Monitor logs and perform ongoing audits to maintain security posture Linux System & Network Control: • Manage and secure Fedora-based Linux systems • Configure iptables rules for traffic filtering and NAT • Implement advanced traffic control using tc for shaping, prioritization, and rate-limiting • Monitor system-level performance and secure network interfaces Virtualization & Networking Support: • Provide support for VMware ESXi and Hyper-V environments • Assist with VLAN tagging, basic routing, and L2/L3 network setup • Document infrastructure and contribute to continuous security hardening Qualifications: Core Technical Skills: • Hands-on experience with Fedora or RHEL-based systems • Strong knowledge of iptables, tc, and Linux networking stack • Experience configuring and maintaining Palo Alto firewalls (PAN-OS) • Understanding of VPNs, NAT, port forwarding, and QoS principles Bonus / Preferred: • Experience with VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V • Familiarity with VLANs, L3 routing, trunking, tagging • Knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization or KVM-based platforms Certifications (Nice to Have): • PCNSE (Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer) • RHCSA/RHCE (Red Hat Certified System Administrator/Engineer) • VCP (VMware Certified Professional) or equivalent • CompTIA Security+ or Linux+ Job Type: • Full-time • In-person (Miami, FL) Pay Range (Miami, FL): • $75,000 – $95,000/year, based on experience and certifications Benefits: • 401(k) • Health Insurance • Dental Insurance • Paid Time Off Schedule: • 8-hour shift • Monday to Friday • On-call support as needed • Occasional travel or weekend work for deployments Work Location: • Miami, FL 33156 (In-office only – local candidates only) Job Type: Full-time Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year Schedule: • 8 hour shift • Monday to Friday • On call • Weekends as needed Ability to Commute: • Miami, FL 33156 (Required) Work Location: In person
