We are looking for a proactive and quick learning professional to help manage the health and operation of OUC's virtual and physical server environment, ensuring that it is both resilient and reliable 24 x 7 for applications, databases, and OUC customers. In this role, you will be responsible to manage Tier 1 infrastructure applications such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Citrix XenApp, and Microsoft 365, perform monthly patching of servers, automate server administration processes using PowerShell scripts, and monitor and troubleshoot the server environment as needed. Job Purpose: Responsible for ensuring a stable infrastructure for assigned hardware and/or software is available seven (7) days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year in support of the Commission’s critical business applications. Review all results daily to ensure success and take corrective actions as necessary for those that were unsuccessful. May be responsible for providing around the clock support for emergency restoration of user files and business systems. Primary Functions: • Provide technical analysis of system related problems and provide resolution options; Run, interpret, and address system diagnostic and alert reports; • Report metric data to Management and prepare periodic metric reports; Monitors license and capacity to ensure incremental purchases are made at the appropriate time; • Provide periodic and as needed technical support, including after-hours enterprise infrastructure maintenance support, internal and external audit requests, and support to applications developers, Operations, and end-users; • Follow triage, SDLC, change management and other IT processes in place to promote new/revised objects to all environments; • Review vendor maintenance notifications and associated action plans; • Conduct technology reviews and planning to identify and implement new technology; • Participate in Change Management Board and IT Standards Committee members meeting; • Preparation of Request for Proposal documentation in support of replacement of infrastructure components for which they support and serve as the main technical resource for evaluation of those proposed solutions; Application Services Assignment: • Serve as lead liaison between application services and staff (both technical and functional) for the identification and resolutions of issues (including 3rd parties) for assigned application; • Manage multiple application environments while following patch/configuration management best practices to apply changes in a logical, audited sequence through environment progression (Dev, Test, UAT, Prod, etc.); • Build and maintain the technical infrastructure in support of the application needs to ensure environments (instances) are available for projects and production; • Perform assigned application deployments, application monitoring, server health monitoring, patch release planning, application service pack upgrades, framework services upgrades and performance tuning. Develop and maintain documentation regarding system functionality, performance benchmarks and system integration; • Perform assigned performance analysis, review the findings to confirm alignment with potential issues, recommendations and improvements within the application infrastructure (network hardware, database, vendor supplied) Document all issues and their resolution. (Daily issues must be documented with problem/resolution/root cause); HP-UNIX/Linux Assignment: • Provide 24/7 support for Hewlett Packard UNIX Operating System (HPUX) hardware, software, and virtual environment; • Create, modify, support, and decommission virtual servers and services for the Application Systems group; • Perform quarterly Hewlett Packard Company (HP) firmware updates and HPUX operating system patching; • Provide debug analysis as needed for servers, Storage Area Network (SAN), Local Area Network (LAN), and Applications services; • Review system and service log files and take actions as needed; • Migrate systems and services to replacement servers, SAN, and LAN infrastructures as required; • Analyze and address application performance issues; Backup & Recovery Assignment: • Provide 24/7 support for the Backup & recovery hardware and software components. • Oversee the operation of the Backup & recovery system, including monitoring, adding new servers modifying existing schedules, verifying backup success and associated remediation efforts in the case of failures; • Perform quarterly patching and/or upgrades as required by the Backup & Recovery vendor in order to ensure optimal performance of the infrastructure; • Perform file, folder, server, or database level restoration as needed to support the business and to correct issues; • Design, plan, and implement Backup & recovery solutions of any complexity; develop and maintain clear and concise system documentation and technical standards; • Work with the application team to test backup and recovery procedures; work with the disaster recovery manager to test backup and recovery procedures on a recurring basis; • Consult with application owners to develop customized backup procedures addressing operational and technical needs; • In all assignments, perform other duties as assigned. Technical Requirements: • Working knowledge in all, but not limited to, the following: • Active Directory, including GPOs, LDAP connectivity, and replication; • DNS, including both Microsoft and AWS Route 53 (or other external DNS hosting); • DHCP; • M365 platform, including Exchange Online, Teams, Security & Compliance Center, and One Drive for Business; • Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) and Microsoft Identity Platform; • Advanced Threat Detection policies; • Microsoft Purview; • Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022; • Data Analysis for logs and system behavior; • General familiarity of VMware vSphere products; • System Technical documentation; • IT Service request, change management, solution request tools (BMC Footprints, Jira, etc.); • Powershell • Utilize analytical abilities to process information; • Ability to respond 24/7/365; flexible schedule; • Complete related tasks in area of assignment with minimal supervision; • Understand overall business goals and how to align actions to achieve results; • Solve related problems within scope of authority, policies and guidelines; • Analyze complex problems and discover root cause of the problem; provide resolution options; • Ability to run, interpret, and/or prepare a variety of systems-related reports and documentation (i.e., metrics, diagnostic and alert, vendor maintenance notifications); • Ability to work with, sort, and distill a wide variety of data and information; • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, compute rates, ratio and percentages; • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.) and use standard office equipment (computer, fax, telephone, copier, etc.).
