The URA is the City of Pittsburgh primary economic development agency. The URA carries out many economic development activities including tax diversion financing, housing development and financing, land development, leveraging state, federal, and other financial resources to support development, commercial real estate and business financing. The Intern will support various functions within the Tax Diversion branch of Development Services, including coordinating with stakeholders, data analysis and GIS mapping projects, research and reporting Job title: Tax Diversion Intern Department: Development Services Unit: Project & Asset Management/Tax Diversions Reports to: Senior Manager of Development Finance Part-Time: X Nonexempt: X Essential Functions and Responsibilities: • Coordinating meetings with a variety of stakeholders, • Preparing presentations for a variety of stakeholders, • Updating and maintaining the tax diversion dashboard, • Drafting the tax diversion annual report, • Undertaking a variety of data analyses for the tax diversion portfolio, including GIS mapping, assessed values, job creation numbers, modeling tax revenues, etc., • Working with staff across departments to support the Senior Manager of Development Services and Development Services, as directed. • Performing other duties as assigned Position Requirements and Qualifications: • Must be an active graduate student, pursuing a degree. • Open to all public policy and business degrees or closely related field. • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher • Familiarity with Adobe suite of tools • Demonstrated academic or professional experience with some or all of the following: • Economic development • Community development • Financial analysis • Data analysis • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team Competencies: • Promoting Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion • Written Communication • Oral Communication • Flexibility Physical Requirements: • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs., standing, sitting, reaching and stretching. • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone.
