Job Title: Conversational AI Engineer (Azure Cognitive Services / CLU) Alternate Titles: Digital Engineer – Conversational Banking Employment Type: Contract (Full-Time Hours) Location: Hybrid – Open to candidates near Vienna, VA (HQ), Winchester, VA (WOC), Pensacola, FL (GPO), or San Diego, CA (SD) Contract Duration: Through 12/31/2025 (potential for extension) Contract Hours: Approx. 1,144.00 hours Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM local time About the Role We are seeking a Conversational AI Engineer with deep experience in Azure Cognitive Services – Conversational Language Understanding (CLU) to help design, train, and optimize intelligent chat and voice bot interactions. This role will focus on improving chatbot performance post-transcription — analyzing and tuning CLU models, optimizing NLP accuracy, and collaborating across teams to elevate user experience on conversational platforms. You’ll work closely with digital banking and voice platform teams to build natural, effective, multi-turn conversations. Key Responsibilities✅ Conversational AI Development • Build, train, and optimize Conversational Language Understanding (CLU) models in Azure Language Studio • Create and maintain intents, entities, utterances, and context flows for accurate NLU • Design and optimize multi-turn conversational flows ✅ Post-Transcription Tuning • Focus on chatbot refinement after voice-to-text transcription • Analyze transcribed user interactions to fine-tune CLU intent recognition and response logic ✅ Optimization & Testing • Continuously improve accuracy and experience using analytics, regression testing, A/B testing • Debug misclassifications, overlaps, and conversation breakdowns • Leverage behavior tracking tools to improve performance ✅ Collaboration & Integration • Work with software engineers, product teams, and data scientists • Provide actionable insights and documentation on chatbot performance • Stay current on Azure AI advancements and emerging trends in Conversational AI ✅ Governance • Ensure AI model compliance with ethical and regulatory standards Required Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in NLP or Conversational AI engineering roles • Hands-on experience with Azure Cognitive Services – CLU and Azure Bot Framework • Strong understanding of NLU, intents/entities/utterances, and model training • Experience improving chatbot performance via tuning and analytics • Familiarity with voice-to-text platforms and working with post-transcription input • Strong collaboration and communication skills in hybrid team environments • Experience with testing frameworks and conversational analytics tools Preferred Qualifications • Experience working with IVR-based systems or voice-first AI experiences • Familiarity with Speech-to-Text (STT) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) services • Prior experience in the financial services or digital banking industry • Azure certifications or NLP-related coursework/certifications Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: $77.00 - $81.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Schedule: • 8 hour shift Work Location: Hybrid remote in Vienna, VA 22180
