We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Architect to lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native applications. This pivotal role, based in San Diego, California, US , will involve defining architectural strategies, mentoring engineering teams, and driving technical excellence across the organization. The ideal candidate possesses a profound understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and modern cloud platforms, coupled with a passion for crafting elegant, robust software solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design and oversee the architecture of complex, distributed, and cloud-native software systems. Define technical strategy, standards, and best practices for software development and infrastructure. Lead architectural reviews and provide technical guidance to engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools for building scalable and resilient applications. Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs. Mentor and coach software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and potential scalability issues. Drive the adoption of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing strategies. Research emerging technologies and trends to ensure our technology stack remains modern and competitive. Contribute to the company's open-source initiatives and engage with the broader developer community. Ensure architectural integrity, security, and compliance across all software products. We require a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a principal or lead architect role, is essential. Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices architecture is mandatory. Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go) and experience with various database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) are required. Excellent understanding of system design, data structures, algorithms, and software patterns is critical. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are necessary to guide teams and influence technical direction.
