The networks we design are ready for the secure convergence of various types of communications (Voice, Video, SCADA, building control, and automation). Work independently and with project teams to design and implement highly available infrastructure related to networking, servers, virtualization, and storage technologies. Define, operationalize, secure, and maintain a stable, scalable, and supportable Linux server infrastructure for enterprise workloads based on Red Hat, CentOS, or Rocky Linux. Primary Responsibilities • Design and Architecture • Define Linux environment standards for server builds, including base image configuration, storage layout, network configuration, patching methodology, and monitoring agents. • Create and document configuration baselines (e.g., /etc, firewall rules, logging, SELinux, audit policies). • Design scalable Linux server environments (physical and virtual), with consideration for HA, DR, and performance optimization. • System Administration & Operations • Provision, configure, and maintain Linux systems using Infrastructure as Code where applicable (Ansible preferred). • Manage user access, sudo policies, PAM configurations, and SSH key distribution. • Handle OS upgrades, kernel patching, package lifecycle management (e.g., yum, dnf, or dnf-automatic). • Maintain filesystem health (XFS, LVM, ext4), swap, and disk usage monitoring. • Configure and troubleshoot network settings including NIC bonding, VLANs, and routing tables. • Automation & Monitoring • Automate repetitive tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible. • Implement and maintain logging, metrics, and alerting using tools like rsyslog/journald, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or others. • Integrate system monitoring with centralized platforms (e.g. Logic Monitor). • Security & Compliance • Enforce Linux security best practices (CIS benchmark hardening, patch compliance, root account lockdown, etc.). • Configure and manage SELinux and/or AppArmor in enforcing mode. • Assist in vulnerability remediation (e.g., CVE tracking and patching). • Respond to audits and provide documentation on system configurations and logs. • Collaboration & Documentation • Work with development, DevOps, and security teams to support Linux-hosted applications and services. • Maintain clear and accurate documentation for all configurations, processes, and procedures. • Provide on-call support as needed (either as part of a rotation or escalation). Required Skills and Experience • 5+ years administering Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux preferred) • Strong scripting abilities (Bash required; Python or Perl a plus) • Experience with Ansible or similar configuration management tools • Familiarity with systemd, firewalld, journald, and SELinux • Hands-on knowledge of virtualization (e.g., KVM, VMware, or Hyper-V) • Comfortable using git for configuration version control • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, and network troubleshooting Preferred but Not Required • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Engineer (RHCE) • Experience with hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) • Familiarity with containers (Docker, Podman) and orchestration (Kubernetes) • Experience with Satellite Server, Foreman, or Spacewalk • Exposure to HA technologies (Pacemaker, Corosync, DRBD) Deliverables / Outcomes • A fully operational and documented Linux baseline image and configuration standard • A repeatable process for provisioning new Linux servers (manual or automated) • Ongoing system patching and maintenance schedule • System and application monitoring setup with proactive alerting • Security baselines met per organization policy Job Type: Full-time Pay: $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year Benefits: • 401(k) • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Paid time off Compensation Package: • Bonus opportunities • Performance bonus • Profit sharing • Quarterly bonus Schedule: • 8 hour shift Work Location: Hybrid remote in Phoenix, AZ 85044
