The Connors Group is seeking a Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer to manage data integrity and governance within their analytics platform. This role involves collaboration with business teams and vendors to enhance data quality and security.
Microsoft Fabric, Data Engineer Employment Type: Full time, Permanent USA USA-based candidates only, who are citizens or have a green card, can be considered. Must be eligible to work without sponsorship, as a Full Time, Permanent W2 employee and be located in the USA preferably in the EST time zone. Position Summary We need a technically strong, business savvy engineer to become our internal owner of data integrity, governance, and ongoing enhancements within our Microsoft Fabric environment. You will: • Act as the frontline steward of data definitions, quality, and security. • Liaise with 3rd Party analytics teams to scope and verify operational changes. • Build and refine Power BI semantic models, reports, and custom data integrations. • Ensure our analytics platform scales smoothly as we add clients and new AI powered features. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands on engineering and cross functional collaboration with business teams, vendors, and leadership. Key Responsibilities Data Governance & Quality • Own data dictionaries, dimension mappings, and business logic across Bronze/Silver/Gold layers. • Perform routine data quality checks on fact tables and key measures; investigate anomalies. • Maintain and document source to target mappings for new columns or data sources. Security & Compliance • Administer workspace and OneLake permissions; manage Key Vault secrets. • Coordinate audits (SOC 2, GDPR, etc.) and ensure retention / privacy policies are enforced. • Review and approve vendor code or pipeline updates for security conformance. Development & Enhancement • Build and extend Power BI semantic models (DAX, relationships, aggregations). • Design new reports and dashboards in collaboration with business stakeholders. • Prototype and productionize custom ETL or Fabric notebooks for non standard data feeds. Vendor Liaison (Blue Margin) • Translate business needs into clear technical tickets for 3rd Party analytics teams. • Review PRs, test fixes, and sign off on pipeline changes and optimizations. • Maintain a shared runbook and oversee incident post mortems. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer • Capture process runbooks, data flow diagrams, and SOPs for all Fabric components. • Train analysts and power users on data model changes and report usage. • Sunset or refactor legacy components. Innovation Support • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Technology on AI/automation initiatives (e.g., ML recommendations, chat enabled analytics). • Integrate new models or Python workloads into Fabric pipelines where needed. Minimum Qualifications • 3+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI development. • Hands on experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse/Databricks plus Power BI semantic models. • Strong SQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred). • Working knowledge of data governance best practices (access control, privacy, lineage). • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into technical specs. • Excellent written & verbal communication in English (UK/US). Preferred Qualifications • Experience coordinating with a managed services vendor or offshore team. • Prior work on affiliate marketing or digital commerce datasets. • Familiarity with Azure DevOps/Git PR workflows and CI/CD for data projects. • Exposure to DAX performance tuning and Fabric capacity monitoring. • Knowledge of AI/ML workflows in Azure (ML Studio, Functions, etc.).
