Job Summary: Apex is seeking a Chief Software Architect to join the CTO team for a large-scale, complex DoD program. This leadership role involves overseeing the planning and development of systems architectures, driving cloud adoption, and ensuring that the Government's business and mission solutions are architected using optimal systems and services. The Chief Software Architect will be responsible for guiding technology change, building high-performance, scalable, and secure solutions, and leading the implementation of DevOps & Agile best practices across the program. Responsibilities: • Lead the architecture and design of high-performance capabilities for DoD and DISA. • Collaborate with Task Order technical leadership to implement software development best practices, standards, and guidelines. • Drive innovation, staying current with industry trends, and lead teams in adopting DevOps & Agile best practices. • Mentor and guide technical teams, fostering innovation and excellence. • Define system requirements in collaboration with stakeholders, translating them into scalable and secure solutions. • Integrate new technologies into existing architectures, evaluating tools for high-quality delivery. • Provide leadership in DevOps & Agile methodologies, ensuring consistent best practices. • Support the CTO team in creating roadmaps and providing thought leadership within the customer domain. • Ensure security best practices are integrated into the development lifecycle and comply with data protection regulations. • Document development processes and results, ensuring reproducibility and knowledge sharing. Qualifications and Experience: • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field with 7+ years of experience in software development/architecture or 15+ years in software development/architecture. • Proficiency in multiple programming languages, cloud computing, distributed systems, and microservices architecture. • In-depth knowledge of system architecture, design patterns, and best practices. • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud) and microservices architecture. • Expertise in data architectures and pipelines for structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data. • Experience with front-end technologies, UI/UX design, and Agile DevSecOps tools. • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience with Agile work management tools like JIRA and Confluence. • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: • Education: Master's degree with 15+ years of experience in systems architecture and leadership roles. • Expertise in scalable microservices, UI/UX design, and full-stack development. • Experience with mission software solutions related to data science, machine learning, or similar technologies. • Prior experience with the DISA domain, DoD, or Intelligence Community (IC). • Familiarity with AI/ML models for processing large datasets. • Completed certifications in system architecture, cloud, or network solutions (e.g., AWS, Cisco, VMware). • Demonstrated ability to drive technological innovation and serve as an agent of change.
