Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Academic Advising provides leadership and management for FNU Academic Advising Services, ensuring students receive comprehensive academic planning support for successful program completion. This role works closely with the Director of Academic Advising and Student Success to oversee departmental operations and develop initiatives that enhance student outcomes in an online graduate nursing education environment. Supervisor Responsibility: None Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of the academic advising program for FNU students. • Assist the Director of Academic Advising and Student Success with oversight of the Academic Advising department. • Create and maintain Academic Advising Services operational policies and procedures handbook and resources in collaboration with the Director of Academic Advising Student Success. • Create new initiatives and support existing collaborations with faculty and staff to improve the academic outcomes and retention of all FNU students. • Assist in the research, development, and evaluation of student outcomes in accordance with the university's strategic plan goals and unit assessment plans. • Provide academic advising to graduate nursing students in an online environment and maintain appropriate student records per university guidelines and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations. • Assist with coordinating academic advising activities, including the on-campus academic advising orientation sessions each term, to assist new students as they transition to FNU and graduate school. • Provide direct leadership, support, and oversight of academic advising department in the absence of the Director of Academic Advising and Student Success • Provide service to the University through activities such as involvement in FNU shared governance (e.g. committees, workgroups), FNU sponsored activities (e.g. charity drives, community-outreach activities), and/or service to the profession (e.g. presentations, profession organization committee work). • Adhere to the elements of the Culture of Caring. • Other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities: • Excellent writing/editorial skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff leadership. • Effective administrative skills and experience. • Experience facilitating varying constituencies within groups/teams. • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects. • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff. • Strong technical skills using, Microsoft 365/Teams, Zoom, Canvas, Canva, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, and Twitter. • Detail-oriented Education and Experience: • Required: Master’s degree + 2 years professional experience or bachelor's degree + 5 years professional experience • Evidence of progressive work in Student Success Physical Requirements: • Sitting, walking, standing, and lifting Work Location: Eligible for hybrid telecommuting agreement after 30 days of employment.
