Summary The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer is responsible for driving initiatives that enhance plant efficiency, productivity, and quality. This role leverages data analysis, process optimization, and lean manufacturing principles to identify improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions. The CI Engineer will lead cost-reduction and productivity projects, track performance metrics to ensure sustainable results, and collaborate cross-functionally to facilitate the successful integration of improvements across operations. Core Functions • Partners with the Plant leadership team to enforce environmental and safety procedures, policies and programs. • Conduct safety reviews and drives safety performance improvements. • Develops team skills through training, coaching, and mentoring. • Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and productivity. • Develop strategies to optimize workflows and eliminate waste. • Implementing lean manufacturing principles to include 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping. • Uses six sigma methodology to drive process improvement opportunities forward including DMAIC methodology and statistical tools. • Conduct failure investigations and root cause analyses including 5 Why’s, Fishbone Diagram and FMEA. • Requires strong skills in Excel, Minitab, for data analysis and decision making. • Creates and interprets flowcharts and process diagrams (Process Mapping) • Plans, executes and monitors improvement projects (Project Management) • Leads and manages organizational change effectively (Change Management) • Provide tactical coaching on Lean Methodology and Continuous Improvement Techniques • Other duties and special projects as assigned • Investigate, experiment and implement processes to maximize productivity • Master & lead scheduling activities for plant production Performs other duties and activities related to the department as necessary to support overall operations and responsibilities, even if not specifically listed above. Education & Experience • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Management experience in a manufacturing environment is desired Physical Demands & Work Environment This position is primarily working around machinery with moving parts, working around moving objects or vehicles. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach/pull/push/grab with hands and arms, kneel, and crouch, twist and bend. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or crawl. This position requires the ability to communicate verbally and electronically.
