Description GXM Consulting is seeking a Lead Application Developer to serve as the senior technical authority for a major federal software initiative. This individual will guide the design and development of secure, scalable, and maintainable applications across Agile teams. The role requires deep expertise in full-stack development, technical leadership, and mentoring of engineers within a DevSecOps environment. The ideal candidate will bring architectural insight, hands-on coding ability, and the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable technical solutions in a fast-paced delivery setting. This position is Local, On-site/Hybrid, with Ad-Hoc Telework Possible. Requirements • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or High School Degree + 6 years of relevant experience. • Minimum of 12 years of software development experience, including full-stack delivery. • Demonstrated expertise in architecting and building enterprise-grade applications. • Experience leading, mentoring and guiding Agile teams through sprint planning, code reviews, and backlog grooming. • Strong fluency in modern languages and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java, React, Node.js). • Hands-on experience with containerized applications, API development, and automated testing. • Proven ability to implement secure coding practices and integrate with CI/CD pipelines. • Ability to speak and demo for sprint reviews in front of technical and non-technical groups of stakeholders. • Experience running Scrum Master responsibilities for an Agile team including managing to, tracking and analyzing metrics objectives for delivery in sprints and over time. Desired Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. • Experience with cloud-native development in AWS, Azure, or similar environments. • Familiarity with DoD software factory practices and DevSecOps toolchains. • Experience working in compliance-driven environments (e.g., RMF, STIGs, 508). • Ability to lead distributed development teams and coordinate with testers, analysts, and DevOps staff. • Previous experience in both greenfield development and legacy system modernization.
