Position Title: Firewall Engineer Location: Alpharetta, GA (Hybrid) 06+ Months Contract Onsite face to face interview! Position Summary: Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Network Firewall Engineer to join our team, specializing in the operation, management, and delivery of secure network infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting firewall systems using Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Cisco devices. This role requires a proactive approach to ensuring network security, optimizing performance, and delivering reliable solutions to meet organizational and client needs. Key Responsibilities: Implementation, day to day operations support and manage firewall policies and configurations on Fortinet, Palo, and Cisco platforms to ensure robust network security. Implementing and maintaining security policies and responding to security incidents. Monitor firewall performance, analyze logs, and respond to security incidents or anomalies in real time. Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patching of firewall devices to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with security standards. Collaborate with network and security teams to deliver firewall solutions aligned with business requirements and industry best practices. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and firewall-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient recovery. Conduct capacity planning and scalability assessments for firewall infrastructure to support organizational growth. Document configurations, processes, and incident resolutions to maintain operational integrity and support knowledge sharing. Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and advancements in firewall technologies to recommend improvements. Participate in change management processes for firewall configurations and deployments. Currently using Service NOW ticketing system. Configuring/Troubleshooting, IPSEC VPN tunnels Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of hands-on experience managing Fortinet (FortiGate), Palo Alto (PA-Series), and Cisco (ASA/Firepower) firewalls in an operational environment. Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, VPN, IPsec, SSL), routing, and switching. Proficiency in firewall policy management, NAT, VPN configuration, and threat prevention features. Experience with network monitoring tools and security information event management (SIEM) systems. Ability to analyze and interpret firewall logs for troubleshooting and security investigations. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Relevant certifications (e.g., Fortinet NSE 4+, Cisco CCNP Security, Palo Alto PCNSE) are desirable. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of cloud security principles and integration with AWS, Azure, or other platforms. Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, or NIST.
