Hi Job Description – Application Security Engineer Location: Dallas TX (Onsite) About the Role We are seeking a skilled Application Security Engineer to join our cybersecurity team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security of applications throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), with a strong focus on secure coding practices, vulnerability management, encryption/decryption techniques, and GitHub Advanced Security. Key Responsibilities • Implement, manage, and monitor Application Security programs across multiple projects. • Integrate GitHub Advanced Security features (CodeQL, Secret Scanning, Dependency Scanning) into CI/CD pipelines. • Conduct threat modeling, code reviews, and penetration testing for web and mobile applications. • Establish and enforce secure coding standards and provide developer training. • Design and implement encryption and decryption mechanisms to protect sensitive data in transit and at rest. • Work closely with DevOps and Engineering teams to embed security in DevSecOps pipelines. • Identify, triage, and remediate vulnerabilities reported from automated tools, bug bounty programs, and external assessments. • Research and recommend new tools, technologies, and practices to strengthen application security posture. Required Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cyber Security, or related field (or equivalent experience). • Strong knowledge of application security concepts, OWASP Top 10, and secure SDLC. • Hands-on experience with GitHub Advanced Security (CodeQL, Secret Scanning, Dependency Review). • Solid understanding of cryptography, encryption algorithms (AES, RSA, ECC, etc.), key management, and secure protocols (TLS/SSL). • Experience with static and dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST) tools. • Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container security. • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Nice-to-Have • Certifications: OSWE, CEH, OSCP, CISSP, or GIAC GWEB. • Knowledge of zero trust architecture and API security. • Experience with incident response and forensics in application security contexts.
