Job Title: Sr. Systems Administrator (Hybrid) - Salt Lake City, UT • Location: Hybrid – 2–3 Days Onsite / Remaining Remote • Assignment will run 6-12 months. Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. Systems Administrator / Systems Engineer to manage, maintain, and enhance our on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of remote work combined with collaborative in-office engagement. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Windows server environments, Azure cloud services, and automation tools to drive operational efficiency and support enterprise systems across physical and virtualized platforms. Key Responsibilities: On-Premises Infrastructure: • Administer and maintain Windows Servers (2003–2022), ensuring performance, availability, and security. • Manage VMware vSphere and vCenter (ver 8.3) environments, including provisioning, upgrades, and troubleshooting. • Support and maintain physical Dell server hardware. • Oversee Windows-based file shares and ensure reliable data access and storage. • Perform regular patching and updates on all Windows Server environments. • Handle Active Directory (AD) management, including GPOs, OU structuring, user/group administration, and security hardening. Cloud Infrastructure (Microsoft Azure): • Administer and monitor Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and identity solutions. • Design and implement infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform and Packer. • Collaborate on cloud optimization and cost management through Azure FinOps best practices. • Provide support for Azure DevOps pipelines and CI/CD automation in partnership with development teams. • Implement and manage Azure networking components, including VNets, NSGs, and VPN gateways. • Support Azure-based file sharing and hybrid cloud integrations. Automation and Scripting: • Utilize Ansible for system configuration, patching automation, and provisioning tasks. • Create and manage automated workflows for system deployment, patching, and configuration management. Qualifications: • 8+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or Engineer in mixed on-prem/cloud environments. • Deep hands-on experience with Windows Server OS (2003–2022). • Proven expertise with Active Directory, VMware vSphere/vCenter, and Dell server hardware. • Strong background in Microsoft Azure, including administration, networking, and FinOps. • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Packer. • Working knowledge of Ansible for system automation. • Experience with Azure DevOps for deployment and configuration pipelines. • Familiarity with hybrid file sharing technologies across Windows and Azure platforms. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
